From the North Korean perspective it was very important to them to unify the Koreans under the Northerners because as everyone knows the North is controlled by the Soviets and the South is controlled by them U.S, so if they invade South Korea and win the war they would kick the U.S out and have all of central Asia under the communist regime with China. On 1950 Stalin approved Mao's idea to invade the South, a full scale attack was on South Korea and within 3 days only the Capitol of South Kore Seoul was taken by the Northerners. The Northerners took all of Korea accept for a small place in South Korea. After the U.N mobilising troops to save South Korea, the troops went and saved Korea but did not stop there, they went and took North Korea too, but there was a small problem the difference between the U.S and U.N forces and China was the Yalu River(( keep in mind that it is like the difference between your house and the street maybe a little more)), the Chinese thought that they were in danger, so they took around 300 thousand men and soldiers and took back North Korea backing the U.N troops back to the 39th parallel where everything started.
Lets just say that it was a waste of soldiers and money!!!!!!
